Light for Children’s volunteers continued their hard work on several projects in July.
In addition to conducting Preventive Child Sexual Abuse workshops, the GlobeMed volunteers from the US also visited schools to do health screenings under Light for Children’s School Health program.They were joined by Rosie Clayton of Britain and local student intern Luiza Wesono from Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology.

Volunteers recorded the body-mass index of the children, dispensed some basic medicines such as worm expellers and first aid supplies, and taught the children proper techniques for brushing their teeth.

Together they ran a 2-week Book Workshop in which a group of children had the opportunity to practise reading, creative writing and art. The group worked together to create a new picture book, copies of which were distributed to the children at the end of the program.

On July 4th, Mike Owusu and Yaw Otchere had the opportunity to discuss their work with the Ghana Anti-Corruption Coalition on a Kumasi radio station, Fox FM. They encouraged listeners to demand transparency and hold local authorities and government accountable, and informed the public of how to report cases of corruption.
