Program Fees

 

 

The minimum duration for a placement is 2 weeks; there is no maximum duration.

The program fee includes the following:

 

• Pre-departure information and support

• Airport pickup and drop-off

• One night in Accra at a guest house

• Transport to placement

• Accommodation for the duration of your stay

• Food for the duration of your stay

• Support from project coordinator

The allocation of fees is as follows:

 

Host family: Volunteer’s food, accommodation, and utilities ................................... 40%

 

Roundtrip to Accra                                             ............................................................ up to 10% *

Airport pick up, 1 night at guest house in Accra,                                                                          

food in Accra, bus to Kumasi, taxi to host family,

bus from Kumasi to Accra at the end of stay

Donation to the school, orphanage, hospital,

or facility where the volunteer is working

 

Light for Children programs                           ........................................................... 25% to 30% *

Helps support 43 HIV-positive sponsored children

with medications, food supplements, and educational needs

Supports project coordination and Light for Children office in Atonsu

 

* The cost of transport from and back to Accra is the same no matter how long the volunteer stays, so for a long-term volunteer it would represent a smaller percentage of their overall payment. The same is true of the placement donation and support to Light for Children programs, which are not affected by the length of the stay.
