In December, Light for Children staff members visited several villages around the Lake Bosumtwe area to meet with community leaders.
Orbis International, in partnership with Light for Children and other local NGOs, will be offering eye care training and other support to health professionals in the region. Nurses at village health centers and clinics will learn to treat simple problems such as conjunctivitis, as well as guidance on when to refer more serious cases to the district hospitals. Doctors at district hospitals and Konfo Anokye Teaching Hospital in Kumasi will also receive training and support.
Interviews were conducted with queen mothers, chiefs and elders to get their perspective on what problems the communities are facing with regards to eye care.

Christmas is a season of parties. On December 25, Mike attended a party for the children at Mampong Babies Home.
Busting out the dance moves
Later he attended another party for widows in a community on the banks of the Volta River.
Mike hosted his annual Christmas party at his home for the children in the neighbourhood. No children’s party is complete in Ghana until the kids get a chance to show off their dance moves.
